Social media has come about to play a huge role in our lives, so much so that nearly every other person is somehow there on one or other of the social networks online. But these online interactions have also come with their problems and risks. For instance, one can easily create a fake identity to fool others.
Same seems to be the case in a high school in St. Lious at Clayton, Missouri. What appears is that the principal of the school tried to engage with the students but through a fake account. Over time, it was revealed that the fake account was owned by the principal and this, naturally, is a cause of huge embarrassment. And so, the principal, Louise Losos, has resigned.
The whole issue started when one of the former student wrote on the Facebook wall of the fake account which went by the name of Suzy Harriston, “Whoever is friends with Suzy Harriston on Facebook needs to drop them. It is the Clayton Principal.”
Surprisingly, soon after this, the account was removed from Facebook. To top it off, the school also announced that the principal Losos will be going on a leave of absence. For a few weeks after, there was no word from the school about the leave of absence. Then all of a sudden, she resigned.
What makes it kind of obvious that Losos resigned over the alleged fake Facebook profile is that the statement released by the school regarding her resignation said that Losos “had a fundamental dispute concerning the appropriate use of social media.”
