When using the desktop version of Google Maps back in the days, most of us dragged around the yellow avatar 'Pegman' to access Street View anywhere on our Maps. Later updates removed it from the desktop version and added a more complex method of accessing Street View. But thankfully, Google is now bringing Pegman back.

Apple has long extended support to its customers in the form of services which help them locate their lost iOS devices. A similar service has been long due on the Android platform and now, Google has finally announced an app which will help Android users locate their lost handsets.

Google has finally rolled out version 2.0 of Google Maps, equipping the new version with a number of new features. The version also comes with iPad compatibility, bringing the service to the tablet for the first time. Among the new features are the ability to get live traffic updates, event reports as well as indoor maps.

A few days ago, we reported that Google may be coming up with a major visual and navigational revamp for Google Maps. Google recently came under a lot of heat in the German city of Hamburg when regulators decided that the search giant illegally recorded Street View data. While collecting data for its mapping service, Google illegally used unencrypted Wi-Fi networks for which it has now been fined a sum of $190,000.
