Apple Patent Shows Pen PC With Cellular And GPS Features

Apple has been awarded a patent of pen-shaped device that works as a portable, wireless computer. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted the patent named “portable computers” initially in 2011, but re-examined and approved again after Apple added descriptions about wireless and cellular features. The device looks like a pen computer with a built-in screen that can display e-mails, text message, and voice data.

The device also features cellular and GPS technology to allow wireless communication, and also acts like an advanced digital pen. According to the patent, the pen is packed with an accelerometer to recognize handwriting and facilitate both speech-to-text and text-to-speech conversion. Along with the cellular transceiver and GPS receiver, the pen PC also comes with microphone, speaker, touchscreen, and rechargeable battery.

The device could be used as a portable PC, and a cellular telephone.
