Netflix Will Retire A Number Of TV Shows And Movies On Jan. 1

As we move towards the brink of a new year, tech companies are gearing up with new plans for 2014. Netflix, among them, has scheduled a mass purge of old TV shows and movies on Jan. 1, apparently in a bid to make space for new content.

Netflix content

The reason why this is significant is that there are a number of notable classics among the movies which will no longer be available on Netflix after Jan. 1. Remember the stunning acting by Daniel Day-Lewis and Pete Postlethwaite in ‘In the Name of the Father’? Well, that’s one of the flicks to be retired from Netflix’s collection.

Another such gem is the much-celebrated ‘Braveheart‘ as well as many such movies which were the cinematic sensations of their times, such as ‘Titanic‘, ‘Once upon a time in Mexico‘ and ‘Requiem for a dream.’

Not to forget that the Tom Cruise classic ‘Top Gun‘ will be gone too. Produced below is the entire list of such TV shows and movies which will be phased out by the online video streaming company as soon as the new year unfolds. So if you have any favorites in that list, there can be no better time than now to watch them one last time on your Netflix subscription.
