Researchers at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, is creating a special humanoid robot that will come in the form of a realistic robot boy. This futuristic robot is being called as Roboy and this robot is going to be born early next year.
Roboy is a child-like unique Tendon Driven robot. The robot will be a “service robot” and will have so-called “soft skin,” a layer of something to make it “safer and more pleasant.” Roboy will care the elderly/aged people and help them to do their work.
This humanoid robot will have a similar physical size like a four year old human child. More than 40 engineers and scientists are constructing Roboy. Researchers are considering this robot as one of the most advanced humanoid robots. They said that they’ll take nine months to build this special humanoid robot. Now, they are in the fifth month of Roboy’s developing. It means they have four months left to complete the robot. Here’s a promotional video of Roboy.
Besides, the designers are attempting to crowdfund development, selling space for logos or names on Roboy’s body and other rewards for between 25 and 50,000 Swiss francs ($27 to $55,000). However, researchers will unveil Roboy at the Robots on Tour at March 8 and 9 2013 in Zurich. You can check out Roboy’s Facebook page and the researchers’ page for more info about this upcoming spectacular humanoid robot.
