The good thing is that Windows Phone is slowly improving on this front too. For instance, the eminent professional social network, LinkedIn, has now released its Windows Phone app.

A LinkedIn app for Windows Phone users is definitely going to be very useful. Especially since the app makes use of the tile interface of Windows Phone, it looks really sleek and gels in with the general ambience of the Windows Phone UI. The app comes with Live Tile capabilities which means that user are able to receive real-time updates from their LinkedIn profile.

Not only that, the Windows Phone app comes with some such features which are not available on other mobile platforms, such as iOS and Android. For instance, according to LinkedIn, the app for Windows Phone has much more functionality when it comes to companies and jobs, than the Android or iOS versions of the app.

Writing on the official blog of LinkedIn, the mobile product management lead at LinkedIn wrote, “We took advantage of the unique and beautiful Windows Phone metro style design while ensuring users would have easy and quick access to all the relevant professional information they’ve come to rely on from LinkedIn. You’ll find that in some cases (hint: companies and jobs), the Windows Phone app offers even more functionality than its iOS and Android siblings.”

This is great news for Windows Phone users and for Microsoft too, since the notable players in the online social media are finally warming up to this platform and are considering it vital to release competitive versions of their apps for it.
