Samsung Galaxy S III ROM Leaked, S Voice Now Available For Other Android Devices

Samsung has been touting its TouchWiz Nature UX in Galaxy S III as something which will be bringing the users a lot of new features. As it turns out now, the firmware for the device has somehow leaked which essentially means that the developers now have access to the firmware and are experimenting around with it. For instance, it has been found that the voice-recognition assistant in S III, S Voice, works on a number of other Android devices.

The firmware that has been leaked contains an APK for S Voice. This has enabled the developers to test S Voice across a number of other Android devices. And it has been found that the software seems to run just fine on nearly all Android devices which are running Android 4.0. For instance, it has already been tested on Galaxy Nexus too and it works without any major problems.

Interestingly, this also means that developers are now able to explore many features of Galaxy S III, even before the device itself is released. The scheduled release of the device is still a week away but developers can now explore the firmware that Samsung developed for the device.

S Voice is being tested by the developers to see how effective it is as a voice-based personal assistant, compared to Siri. Samsung seems to have followed Apple in more than one ways when designing S Voice. You get to have a small mic icon at the bottom of the S Voice screen, just like in Siri.

However, although S Voice is able to accomplish a lot of things including getting weather forecasts, sending messages to contacts, scheduling events and more, it still doesn’t offer as much functionality as Siri. Apple launched Siri so that Siri would answer some vague questions too. But S Voice, on the other hand, resorts to online search whenever any vague question is being asked.

The good thing, however, is that Samsung is improving and doing so fast. And coupled with the whole plethora of other features that are being offered with Galaxy S III, the device is going to be a treat for many.
