All Surprised! Microsoft’s Next OS Is Windows 10, Not Windows 9

Yesterday, Microsoft held an event in San Francisco. Everyone had expected that Microsoft would announce the name of Windows 9 as its next OS, but surprising all, Microsoft announced Windows 10 as its next OS.

Windows 10 Kicked Window 9

Windows 8 as well as 8.1 was a huge disappointment to users. To many users, Windows 7 was better than Windows 8/8.1. There was no Start Menu in Windows 8. Mark Richmond, CEO of Micro Doctor, a technology solutions company, even said  that Windows 8 was a “second biggest Operating System blunder since Microsoft Vista.” However, people had long been waiting for Microsoft’s next OS system which logically they had thought would be called Windows 9 (following numerical order).

Windows 10 Event

But yesterday on September 30 event, Microsoft announced Windows 10 instead of Windows 9 as its next OS. You might be thinking why didn’t Microsoft follow the numerical order? Who knows the reasoning behind it, but some members are saying that maybe the company is “superstitious” or maybe it’s because it wants to stand side by side of “Apple’s OS X”.  Or may be the Microsoft wants to get as far away from the number 8 as possible.

However, while a lot of funny theories are going around, Windows boss Terry Myerson said at the event that Windows 10 will be “built from the ground up for a mobile-first, cloud-first world” and that “Windows 10 will run on the broadest range of devices ever“.

What this means, fundamentally, is that Windows 10 is set to become the de facto operating system across every Microsoft device (Xbox One, Desktop PCs, Laptops, Windows Tablet/Phones).

Windows 10 Will Run On The Broadest Amount Of Devices

He also added, “We’re delivering one application platform … One store, one way for applications to be discovered, purchased and updated across all of these devices.”

Windows 10 Will Be Able To Adjust User's View

On the other hand, Microsoft has confirmed that it will bring back the Start Menu in Windows 10 which had been removed from Windows 8. Windows 10 will offer a list of the user’s favorite applications. The menu will also be in resizable tiles – similar to those featured in Windows 8’s touch-centric interface on PCs and tablets. These will provide a quick view of notifications from relevant applications, such as details of new emails, Facebook messages and weather forecast updates. Microsoft has mentioned that such facility has been deployed to make the software seem familiar to both users of Windows 8 and Windows 7. Here’s a video of Windows 10.
