Apple Launches A Cheaper, Camera-Less Version Of New iPod Touch

Apple recently dished out its 5th-generation iPod Touch which comes with many new improvements. However, at the same time, the company has committed a rather huge mistake by replacing its more affordable 4th-generation iPod Touch with a cheaper version of 5th-generation iPod Touch, one which lacks a camera.

5th-gen iPod Touch

The 16GB version of Apple’s 4th-generation iPod Touch costs a mere $199 and was considered among the most affordable models of the line-up. However, right on the heels of the launch of 5th-generation iPod Touch, Apple has abandoned it, much to the chagrin of iPod Touch users.

In its place, Apple has launched a cheaper version of 5th-generation iPod Touch. Although it is priced at $229 and is relatively more affordable, the main problem with it is that it doesn’t feature a camera. Over the years, consumers have come to think of iPod Touch as a comprehensive media player. So by removing camera from this cheaper version, Apple has made a huge mistake.

Interestingly, Apple hasn’t announced these changes and released the cheaper version rather quietly. This essentially hints that the company isn’t exactly interested in making the cheaper version of iPod Touch a success and has released it merely to extend its iPod Touch line-up.

So far, nearly all the reviews across the tech arena are starkly opposed to this move and have advised the users not to purchase it. Rather, many say, it would be a better choice to simply purchase the main 5th-generation iPod Touch.
