Do you often leave your laptop unattended? This is, certainly, a bad idea, if you have sensitive or confidential documents on it because anyone may steal that in your absence. However, if you use Mac, then there’s good news for you. There’s a new Bluetooth accessory called Sesame that can automatically lock your Mac when you step away.
Sesame is made by Atama. It weighs 9g/0.02lbs and measuring 60 mm x 23 mm x 8 mm (2.36-inch x 0.91-inch x 0.31-inch). The device is powered by CR 1620 Cell. You can connect the device with your Mac via Bluetooth (aka Bluetooth 4.0 and Bluetooth Smart) The device comes with 1 year warranty. It can be operated in between 10°C – 40°C (50°F – 104°F).
However, Sesame works by using OS X’s built-in screen saver password function. It automatically can lock your Mac computer once you step away from it. Users will be able to determine how far they are in order to engage the screen saver, with an option to pause iTunes playback at the same time.
To regain access to your Mac (when enabled), you have to go through 2-step authentication. First you have to enter your system password and later you have to press Sesame’s hardware button.
Sesame is compatible with MacBook Air (Mid 2011 model, 2012 and 2013 model), MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 model, Retina 2012 model, Retina 2013 model), Mac Mini (Mid 2011 model, Late 2012 model), iMac (Late 2012 model, Early 2013 model) and MacOS X (10.8.x, 10.9). Atama is expected to release Sesame later in this November. Its price will be $39.99.
