Microsoft has released 1.5 version of the Kinect for Windows runtime and SDK (Software Development Kit). The latest Kinect for Windows has Seated Skeletal Tracking. It can track head, shoulders, and arm skeleton when a person moves. The tracking system is ignoring the leg and hip joints. By using C++, C# or Visual Basic, developers can create applications for the Kinect for Windows SDK. The new Kinect for Windows hardware is now available in Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.
‘Kinect For Windows’ developers have made performance and data quality enhancements, which would improve the experience of all Kinect for Windows applications using the RGB camera and depth data to be mapped together like green screen.
Microsoft has also released four new languages for speech recognition – French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. From the next month, Kinect for Windows hardware will be available in 15 additional countries including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, India, and Netherlands. After completing the wave of expansion, it will be available in 31 countries around the world.
