Mortal Kombat 2011 Video Game Review

Mortal Kombat is an upcoming fighting game in the Mortal Kombat franchise developed by NetherRealm Studios. This is the ninth installment in the series but the first title to be published exclusively under the Warner Bros. label. The original version of this game made its debut in 1992 and its success gave way to a lot of sequels and the latest being the rumored Mortal Kombat (2011 video game).

Description

Basically, the Mortal Kombat 2011 video game will recount the events that happened in the first three games in the series, but in a different timeline. Most of the characters will be retained in this upcoming game but with different look and feel.

This new game will feature 26 playable characters such as Cyrax, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Nightwolf, Reptile, Scorpion, Sektor and Sub-zero. And apparently, this game will be the first fighting game in the franchise that will include battle intros for the characters, which is a common in many other fighting games. Each of the characters will be having an intro as well as an outro.

In addition to that, this upcoming game will also feature new control buttons that will make the game even more exciting. Instead of having punches divided between high and low only, there will also be control buttons for each limb as well. It basically combines martial art techniques thus, allowing more fluid character animations. Aside from this, players can also make some special moves easily and without the need of much effort.

Features

The game will include an all-new graphics engine, the return of classic-style Fatalities and classic stages (including the Pit!), a deep story mode (which the developers claim will be the “deepest story mode of any fighting game”), all-new Tag Team gameplay for up to four players, a new “Co-Op Arcade Mode’ and extensive online play and modes including “team” matches. The developers promise Mortal Kombat will have the “most extensive online experience ever seen in a fighting game.” And it definitely seems like this new MK is taking the best elements of Mortal Kombat 1, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to create an almost updated version of those games.

Release Date

This Mortal Kombat video game is scheduled for release next year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
