Back in December, Nintendo had promised that it would soon be bringing the Google Maps with Street View to its new Wii U console. However, the company didn’t divulge when will it make the feature available except hints that it may arrive in January this year. But even those plans were delayed and now, Google Maps with Street View is finally available on Nintendo Wii U.
The key reasons why Wii U users had been waiting for the feature so eagerly is the fact that Nintendo’s Wii Street U is also powered up by Google. For now, Nintendo is offering Google Maps with Street View to Wii U users without charging them for it. And the feature is available only to users in Japan.
However, the free access will continue until May after which, users will have to pay a certain fee to access notable features such as Panorama-like view. Nintendo hasn’t revealed how much would it charge the users after May but we are sure that the fee would be fairly nominal.
As for the U.S. audience, there is no word on pricing or availability of the feature yet. But since Japanese Wii U users are now able to access Google Maps with Street View, we are hopeful that the company would soon introduce the feature to the U.S. users too.
