Rovio Planning To Release Star Wars Version Of Angry Birds?

Yesterday morning, Rovio teased its fans through a tweet hinting a collaboration between Angry Birds and Star Wars. The tweet termed the ‘collaboration’ to be the “next big thing” from Rovio and leads followers to the Angry Bird Tumblr page where a photo of a bird holding a lightsaber appears. The release event will be held on October 8 at 10 AM eastern time at Times Square, New York. Rovio wants you to,”head to Toys R Us at 8am EST”; hence, we’re assuming you can pick-up the new Angry Bird Star Wars toy in-store then.

Rovio’s collection of Angry Birds games has grown rapidly over the past few years. Currently the five Angry Birds titles have combined for over 1 billion downloads across the iOS, Android, and Windows Phone platforms. If Rovio combined Star Wars with Angry Birds, this game would probably hit an all-new high score. Both of these franchise have had huge success under their respectful categories.

The last time Rovio released a mobile-version of Angry Birds was during March, where Angry Birds Space was released. The title had huge success; selling more than 10 million copies during the first four days of its debut..

Mark your calendars; once again the Rovio announcement will occur at 10:00 AM, but at 8:00 AM at Toys R Us a new product will hit the shelves.
