Sony PlayStation Mobile Will Launch This Fall

Sony has said on Tuesday that its PlayStation Mobile cross-platform gaming service will be launched at the beginning of this fall. Initially, this service will be initially available in Japan, United States and Canada. The service will be gradually rolled out in a total of nine countries.

Sony PlayStation Mobile

The new PlayStation Mobile service will provide application software and other content across devices including PlayStation Vita, Xperia smartphones and tablets. The new service, if successful, will help boost Sony’s gaming ecosystem and may help in increasing hardware sales.

Sony will also provide a development platform for third party content and game developers and publishers. The program, previously branded as PlayStation Suite, will enable third party developers and publishers create new content for Sony portable devices.

Asustek Computer and Wikipad Inc have already been confirmed to join Sony’s PlayStation Certified license program. The benefit of the partnership agreement is that the users will be able to access PlayStation Mobile content by using Asus and Wikipad handheld devices.
