Apple Job Listing Hints At Next iOS Version, Expanded APIs

Apple’s job listings often divulge hints as to where the company is headed with its products and services. A recent listing at the official website of the tech titan indicates that Apple will be rolling out its next iOS version some time soon and is also seeking to equip it with expanded APIs and modern frameworks.

iOS 7

The listing that reveals this calls for an iOS Frameworks QA Engineer who will be working directly on ‘the very first iPhone/iPad app that uses a new API/framework in the next version of iOS.’ In other words, as soon as Apple finds the right man, the work on the next iOS version will be in full-throttle.

This engineer, the job listing states, will be working with a number of engineering teams within the larger iOS team and will ensure that the quality of the new APIs and frameworks implemented in the next version of iOS are good enough. Given Apple’s history, it is expected that the company may choose to take the wraps off iOS 7 at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Back in 2012 too, Apple afforded us the earliest glimpses of iOS 6 during the WWDC event. Unfortunately, the job listing does not reveal what kind of new features will Apple release as part of iOS 7. However, what we can remain assured of is that the new iOS version will be equipped with a whole plethora of new features. In iOS 6, for instance, Apple first offered its own Maps app and the Passbook feature. Let’s see what Apple has up its sleeve for iOS 7.
