Apple’s iPhone Devices Were The Top 3 U.S. Smartphone Models During 2011

The appeal of iPhone continues to lure the US customers. The popularity of the iPhone devices by Apple seems only to have increased even more over time, especially with the launch of iPhone 4S. According to a whitepaper by comScore titled ‘2010 Mobile Future in Focus’, the top 3 most popular smartphone models during the year 2011 were all iPhone devices. The top spot was taken by iPhone 4, followed by iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S.

Right now, iPhone 4S definitely is the most popular smartphone model from Apple. However, in context of 2011, it had only three months to sell, so naturally iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS outdid it in overall sales.

The list wasn’t very rosy for Android smartphone models. Only one Android smartphone made it to the top five. HTC Evo 4G fell on the fifth number on the popularity index, a smartphone available exclusively with Sprint and the first 4G phone available in US.

What is a tad bit surprising is the fact that RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 8530 fell on the fourth number. This clearly shows that BlackBerry is still one of the most popular device in US despite the apparent decline in the overall market share of RIM.
