The new Google+ Local for iOS is almost similar to the previous version of the Google Places app with some new features. Users can still find nearby restaurants, hotels, banks, post offices and many other things. People just have to select the icons to find the places they want to find.

The visible difference that will catch your eyes is Google+ Local pages. A new “Local” tab will appear in users’ Google+ accounts. All the pages are now integrated with Google’s mainstream services like search, maps etc.

Google+ Local has another new feature – voice search. You don’t need to type anything to search, just say what you want to find. However, the voice library is not allowed to store locally on iOS like Android 4.1 Jelly Bean can store. That makes the service a bit slower then the Android OS.

New in Version 1.4

Google Places is now Google+ Local! Everything you loved about Google Places and more.
With Google+ Local you can see reviews from your friends, decide where to go with Zagat’s summaries of places and review your favorite places.

  • Ability to search via Voice Search. Simply tap the microphone and speak your query
  • Improved UI for searching for places that aren’t nearby.
  • Switched to using OAuth2 login for improved security
  • Bug fixes
