Dell Brings Redesigned Alienware 14, 17 And 18 Gaming Notebooks

Dell finally brings good news for the Alienware fans. Dell has unveiled redesigned Alienware 14, 17 and 18 gaming notebooks. These beasts come with Haswell processors, the latest NVIDIA graphics and 802.11ac Wi-Fi on some models. The redesigned Alienware moved to metal chassis with aluminum lid and magnesium alloy chassis, compared to old plastic body.

Dell added up to nine macro keys with the 18-inch model and four macro keys with the 17-inch model. All of this three models pack quad-core Core i7 processor, and minimum 8GB of RAM. For displays, all these laptops feature IPS screens, and the 17- and 18-incher support 1080p video. On the other hand, Alienware 14 starts with 1,366 x 768. The displays are powered by NVIDIA’s GTX 765M (2GB) on the 17 and 18, while the 14 starts with a 1GB GTX 750M. And on the 18 you get two GPUs by default, in an SLI setup.

All the three models come with a minimum of 750GB of HDD storage, and users have options to choose SSDs with their laptop. With the 14 model, you can add up to three HDDs, while the two larger notebooks have room for four. The Alienware 17 and 18 come with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, while the 14 packs a Killer Wireless-N 1202 radio.

They’re all available now, with starting prices of $1,199 for the 14, $1,499 for the 17 and $2,099 for the 18. There will also be a Core i5 version of the 14 to be available soon, and will start around $1,099.

    So, Alienware lost their excellent designer that did the previous line and hired a hack instead.

    These notebooks look like Clevo or Sager barebone clunkers and they are as thick and heavy as ever.

    Hey Dell, how about you put up some real R&D funding for Alienware instead of just milking them?

    Time to learn something from Razer’s Blade 14…
