Amazon’s Windows Phone 7 app has quietly appeared in the Zune Marketplace. The new app, which is tailored for WP7 devices, provides access to over 750,000 e-books. Kindle for Windows Phone allows users to select different font sizes and supports syncing across various Kindle-enabled devices. As is the case with Kindle on other mobile platforms, Kindle for WP7 supports in-app purchases from Amazon’s extensive catalog.
To customize your reading experience, you can choose five different font sizes and three color schemes — white on black, black on white, and sepia — and adjust contrast via a slider control. Device orientation is supported, allowing you to read in portrait or landscape mode. Kindle for WP7 also offers you recommended reads, and you can preview the first chapter of a book before deciding whether or not to make a purchase.
The application makes use of WP7’s pivot user interface and provides quick access to not only archived books, but also provides a brief visual list of recommended book purchases.
The Kindle app is free and available now in the WP7 Marketplace.
