HTC Desire 816 With 13-Megapixel Camera Will Cost Less Than $300

HTC has been trying hard to recover from its downward spiral in the smartphone market. The company may finally be on to something as rumors surface that it is about to launch HTC Desire 816 for a sub-$300 price tag.

HTC Desire 816

HTC has been dishing out some brilliant smartphones in the recent years. But nearly all HTC top-end and mid-end smartphones carry significant price tags. This can be one of the contributing factors to HTC’s slow sales and now that the company is rumored to change the strategy, it may actually work out great for HTC.

HTC Desire 816 packs some impressive specs and includes a 5.5-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution. Moreover, the handset offers a 13-megapixel rear camera together with a 5-megapixel front camera. These specs certainly put Desire 816 among the top contenders in the mid-range market. And if the rumored price tag turns out to be true, that is sure to catapult Desire 816 to the top of the mid-range smartphones.

One reason why HTC would want to cut down the price margin that much is simply the need to gain a foothold in the emerging markets. Right now, countless local and non-local vendors are offering really cheap smartphones in emerging markets. However, most of these handsets are not exactly a quality product.

HTC can differentiate itself by offering real quality smartphones at an affordable price tag. This price tag won’t be as low as the aforementioned vendors but coupled with HTC’s design and quality products, the strategy may actually work great.
