Samsung GALAXY S5 And Gear 2 Become Available Globally

Samsung unveiled its latest flagship handset, the Galaxy S5, back at MWC 2014. The handset will go on sale today, together with the entire Galaxy Gear line-up, in 125 countries around the globe.

Galaxy S5

Galaxy S5 is an impressive smartphone and Samsung is really notching up the competition with it. It has a 5.1-inch screen and a whopping 16-megapixel camera. Under the hood, it comes with a powerful 2.5GHz processor together with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of storage space.

Interestingly, Samsung has laid a lot of stress on the fact that Galaxy S5 is waterproof and dustproof. This seems a part of Samsung’s strategy to push its Galaxy Gear devices into the hands of the consumers. Since the Gear devices work best in conjunction with the Galaxy S5 smartphone, Samsung wants you to know that you can bring out the new handset anywhere, in the shower or out on a dusty road, without running any risks.

Galaxy S5 also packs a heartrate monitor as well as a fingerprint scanner. U.S. users can lay their hands on the new Samsung flagship handset at any of the major carriers. These include Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. For a two-year contract, you will be able to snag this beauty for $199.

Galaxy Gear 2 devices

On the Gear front, Samsung is rolling the red carpet for all three of its Galaxy Gear devices. These include the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear 2 Neo and Galaxy Gear Fit. Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are quite similar except that Gear 2 packs a metal body and a camera, and Gear 2 Neo lacks both of these features. For those who want their tech gadgetry to look cool, Gear Fit may be the right choice. It is a tiny wearable which packs a 1.85-inch Super AMOLED curved touchscreen, together with a whole range of fitness options.
