Samsung has been slowly giving out the details of its upcoming reference hardware. Earlier, we were being told that was is nearly sure about the device is that it will be running a Linux-based Tizen OS. Now, another report is claiming that the device will have a non-PenTile Super AMOLED HD Plus display.

What is surprising is that while Samsung chose to use a PenTile pixel arrangement in its flagship Galaxy S III device, it didn’t for a similar arrangement in the reference device. The most probably reason is that PenTile arrangement is meant to ensure longer lifespan for the display, something which is not too critical or needs to be a priority in device meant for the developers.

Another rumor that is doing its rounds around the web is that the screen of the device will have a 1024 x 720 resolution. This does sound as a tad bit strange since the least that most smartphone ship with nowadays is a 1280 x 720 resolution.

However, the main point again is that this is a phone meant primarily for the developers. So Samsung may not be necessarily targeted it with the best of specs. Still, the pixel density of this display, if the rumors be true, would be the highest pixel density in any device having a non-PenTile AMOLED display.
