Imagine using your smartphone on a laptop. Sound confusing, right? Most of us have troubles typing quickly or accurately on smartphones as well as tablets. The virtual keyboards, although convenient, still seem to work uncomfortable for a lot of us. And it was about time there was a solution to this qualm.
The solution has now landed in the form of ClamBook. ClamBook has been created by ClamCase. ClamBook is not a laptop but it is a laptop-like accessory that will hitch up to your smartphone and will let you use your smartphone on a larger screen with a QWERTY keyboard and a trackpad.
The best thing about ClamBook is that it is ultra-thin. And that is for obvious reasons. Since it makes use of smartphone’s data and hardware, the device itself has little hardware in itself, so it can manage to stay really slim.According to the company, “ClamBook’s processing happens on your smartphone, so it runs cool as cucumber.”
It connects to the smartphone via an MHL cable and while being connected to the device, also charges it at the same time. ClamBook is compatible with both, iPhone as well as Android smartphones. Especially, the experience of ICS phones is promised to be a pleasure on the Book.
The trackpad is also a pretty decent inclusion with its support for two-finger scrolling, swiping through apps, pinching and zooming. One things that remains rather unclear is that how will smartphone apps, which are designed for smaller screens, will adapt to ClamBook’s rather large screen. You can sign up for the device here.
