Pulse 2.0 News Reader for iPad is Now Available

Alphonso Labs has announced that their Pulse News Reader for iPad (currently US $1.99) has been updated to version 2.0. The new version of the app addresses one of the major complaints about the original by allowing up to 60 news feeds to be added, with up to 12 feeds on each of five pages.

Pulse is a visual news reader for your iPad. It takes the news sources you follow, and instantly creates a visual mosaic of your news. Tap on an article, and you’re presented with a very clean view of the news story.

Features:
★ Dual view: For each article, you can switch between a clean text summary of the article or go to the website directly. When you tap on an article, both are ready to view, almost instantly!
★ Dashboard: With the dashboard layout, you can continue to browse stories of a news source as you read an article. Zero hierarchy!
★ Offline sync: No internet? No problem. Pulse loads the news you read, and makes it available wherever you are.
★ Smart search: No need for complicated RSS 2.0/XML/*#@ feed addresses. All you have to do is enter keywords and Pulse fetches the feed for you. You can add upto 60 sources in this version.
★ Easy share: Found an interesting article? Sharing it via email, facebook, twitter and instapaper is as easy as 2 taps.
★ Smooth transitions: Getting lost in applications as you rotate your iPad. Special care has been taken to maintain consistency between Landscape and Portrait views.

What’s New In This Version:
★ Source-O-Plenty: Now get 60 sources across 5 pages (12 on each page)
★ Organize Away: Improved management of your sources
★ Eureka!: Discover new and interesting sources in Pulse Bazaar
★ Zip Zip Zip: Performance enhancements to make your favorite application faster than ever

The app seems snappier than the previous version also, both at startup and while loading or refreshing pages. I’m not sure if it’s new, but it’s possible to add both your Facebook and Twitter feeds to Pulse, with any post with a photo or link in it showing up in your Pulse list. There’s also support for Bump, so you can share feeds with friends who have both Bump and Pulse installed. Sounds like a great update — if you’ve had issues with the app previously, it’s worth giving it another look.

I tried connecting to Facebook and the Pulse app closes. I’ve written them in the past and there is no response. Terrible support. I can’t find anything on the web to adress the problem.
