Apple’s Rumored ‘iPad Mini’ May Be Wi-Fi Only

The next rumored tablet from Apple, the iPad Mini, may not support cellular-data on its speculated October 17 launch date. The Guardian broke the news citing ‘industry sources’ that a 3G-capable tablet isn’t in the Cupertino-based company’s plans. This new revelation contradicts with earlier leaks that showed parts typically attached to cellular model devices manufactured by Apple.

The UK-based newspaper notes the decision to make the iPad Mini as Wi-Fi only was cost-related. Apple reportedly wanted to assure the iPad Mini was cost efficient to compete with counterparts such as the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD. A 3G-radio chip and a monthly data subscription is said to scare consumers away.

With competing companies, such as Amazon recently presenting their Kindle Fire HD cellular models offerings, Apple wouldn’t be the type of competitor to eliminate cellular abilities. That is just an opinion, the truth will be unveiled soon.
