The Lenovo U1 has found the way to retail reality, making a stop by at the FCC to ensure that it can, some day, be released. It’s been well over a year but Lenovo appears to have finally gotten the 11.6-inch Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid ready for the US market. The hybrid tablet PC has been submitted to the FCC, the full report was released online Sunday evening by the FCC.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid caught everyone’s attention back at CES 2010 due entirely to how cool the devices concept really was. The U1 Hybrid could offer up a custom Linux + ARM tablet experience or a Windows 7 + Intel laptop experience. Lenovo made that work by creating a smart docking system that featured a laptop components inside of it, and a display that tablet components inside of it. The laptop part had a Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor and Intel integrated graphics powering everything.
Although we won’t see the IdeaPad U1 for a little while here in the States, we’re definitely anxious for this baby to hit the market. China pricing for the U1 Hybrid is right around $1300, and it sounds like it will be about the same when it hits our shores.
