Rumor: Microsoft May Collaborate With Barnes & Noble To Unveil A Tablet

The web is abuzz with speculations as to what Microsoft plans to unveil in its mysterious event tomorrow. Most have agreed that the company probably is going to make some very important announcement regarding its tablet plans. And yet, some are now suggesting that Microsoft is probably going to unveil a tablet in collaboration with Barnes & Noble.

The important question is, will Microsoft be targeting Apple’s iPad or Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Both are two different categories of the tablet market with Kindle Fire belonging to the mini-tablet market. And while Microsoft, if releasing a tablet on its own, will probably go after iPad, a collaboration with Barnes & Noble pretty much means it is looking to cut Kindle Fire’s share in the market.

Tech Crunch is the one who has reported that Microsoft will probably unveil a tablet in collaboration with Barnes & Noble and that the focus of this tablet would be entertainment, thus also including Xbox streaming on tap.

The claim is further supported by the fact that the two companies announced significant partnership back in April. In lieu of this partnership, Microsoft invested $300 million into a Barnes & Noble subsidiary. On the other hand, Barnes &  Noble agreed to use Windows 8 for its Nook digital store.

Nonetheless, nothing can be said for sure about Microsoft’s move tomorrow and we will just have to wait and see what the company has up its sleeve.
