Apple Almost Finished Working On Its Gigantic Solar Farm

Apple got the permission from the North Carolina Utilities Commission to build a 20-megawatt solar photovoltaic electric generating farm at 6028 Startown Road, Maiden, North Carolina. The company’s target is to complete the solar farm before November 2012 and run it by December 21, 2012. According to the video clips of the ongoing solar farm captured by WCNC-TV, it seems that the work is nearly complete.

Apple is building this giant solar firm next to its data center in the city of Maiden. The solar firm is being built on 100 acres land.

Already enormous panels have been installed on the 100 acres land. As soon as the solar completes, it’ll be able to generate 20-megawatt solar photovoltaic electricity.

The solar panels and trackers installed in the field has come from California’s SunPower, the higher efficiency solar panel maker.
