Google Search Algorithm To Downgrade Websites That Display Too Many Ads

Google is looking to be a vigilante and has announced a new algorithm change. From now on, Google will be able to “look” at your page layout and if the ads are found to be excessive, you could end up being fined and downgraded in search results. Auch!

We should have been expecting this, since some time ago Matt Cuts made comments suggesting that Google was working towards that direction: “We’ve heard complaints from users that if they click on a result and it’s difficult to find the actual content, they aren’t happy with the experience. Rather than scrolling down the page past a slew of ads, users want to see content right away.”

So in order to keep web surfers happy, from now on Google will target site that load the top of the page with multiple ads to an excessive degree. But what is excess to the search giant? Apparently Google isn’t going to provide any tools to help site owners determine if their reached the line. So how will they know when the site has reached the limit? If you were hit already, since the algorithm is out and running, remove some of that ads and wait for Google to push out the update. So who will be affected? Google says that 1 in ever 100 search is going to be.
