Verizon Offers Fastest 4G Uploads, AT&T Tops In Fastest 4G Downloads According To Survey

PCWorld has conducted a nation-wide survey in US to see which wireless carriers offer the fastest speeds when it comes to 3G and 4G mobile internet. Multiple tests were done in some 13 cities across US, so the results are based on a fairly representative sample. When it comes to downloading on 4G, AT&T tops the list.

According to the results of the survey, AT&T’s 4G network was able to average at 9.12 Mbps at most locations. This is by far the highest 4G downloading speed offered by any US carrier. Next in the list was Verizon’s LTE. It was able to reach speeds of up to 7.35 Mbps while T-Mobile’s HSPA+ clocked at 5.53 Mbps.

As far as the upload speeds on 4G are concerned, Verizon took the crown from AT&T in a close tie. Verizon was able to offer up to 5.86Mbps while AT&T achieved 4.91 Mbps. T-Mobile was pretty down on the list, offering a pretty meagre 1.32 Mbps.

However, T-Mobile did manage to top the rest in the band when it came down to 3G. It was able to touch 3.84Mbps in downloading a 1.44Mbps in uploading. The speed tests for Sprint, which is touted as the ‘favorite 4G Network’, were utterly disappointing. Speeds on Sprint’s 3G and 4G networks were nearly the lowest compared to other carriers. Sprint is hoping that when it finally starts rolling out its LTE support, it will be able to take care of the current low speeds.
