Adobe has been pretty active in nabbing security vulnerabilities of its software. Now, the company has shipped out a security update for the Flash Player. The update is to fix an exploit in the Flash Player that, Adobe says, is already being utilized by hackers to gain control of Flash Player users.
So how does this exploit work and how serious is the security loophole caused by it? According to Adobe’s security bulletin, the exploit can cause the Flash Player to crash. And when the player crashes, this provides a window of opportunity to a prospective hacker to gain control of the user’s system, which can then be used for a lot of nefarious purposes.
Adobe has been quite frank in sharing that the exploit is already being used by different hackers through email. This is being done by sending an email with a malicious file attachment. Once the user clicks the file attachment, the attack on the user’s system starts. Currently, this attack is being done only on such users who are using Internet Explorer on Windows. But it can also be performed on other platforms such as Linux, OS X and Android.
So Adobe has shipped out a security update for all of these platforms. If you are a computer user, get the latest version of Flash Player right here.
