We all know, Apple is the innovator of iPhone. But, unfortunately, Apple store in Manhasset, Long Island has been threatened to be sued. Not because of any fault of Apple’s iPad or iPhone, rather it was the front door of Apple store with which an 83 year old lady or you may call granny smashed her face. The door was a transparent glass door. A door hits an 83 year old lady and Apple has to pay $1 Million, other than that, it will be sued? Pretty much interesting.
The name of that 83 year old lady is Evelyn Paswall. She was approaching the Apple store. But she didn’t see the well cleaned transparent glass door. So, she hit the door miraculously and smashed her face. She broke her nose. To be mentioned that, though Evelyn Paswall is 83 year old, but still she drives her own car which means her eyesight is still sharp enough to see behind the wheel on public roads through mirrors.
Evelyn Paswall claims that the tech company’s signature glass architecture is a menace to little old ladies. “Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd,” said her attorney, Derek T. Smith. “But on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people.”
Paswall argues that Apple should have put marks on the glass that aged people could spot before they come face to face with disaster. “There were no markings on the glass or they were inadequate,” Derek T. Smith said. “My client is an octogenarian. She sees well, but she did not see any glass. The stereotypical Apple customer is a Gen-Y person or a teenager or a college student, but they have to realize that the elderly generation are their customers, too.”
