Foxconn is the world’s largest electronic contract manufacturer. Foxconn’s Chengdu based facility mainly produces Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) for electronic products. In fact, the company assembles electronic products mainly in China for global brands such as Apple Inc. and Sony Corp.

The employees of the company lived in a dormitory at the company’s plant in Chengdu. Last Monday night, a thief entered into the dormitory premise. Two security guards attempted to stop the thief. Then, some employees who had grudges against the security officers hindered the two security guards from stopping the thief and forced them away. This hindrance later turned into a mini-battle. Up to 1,000 workers who joined the mini-battle went out of control. They threw trash bins, chairs, pots, bottles and fireworks from the upper floors of the building to the ground and destroyed public facilities.

In order to have the situation under control, the dormitory administrators called the local public security bureau. Hundreds of police officers came on to the spot, suppressed the riot, arrested dozens of workers and the two hour long riot ended.

It’s not clear, why the employees had grudges against guards. If you have any idea, write down your comment below in the box.
