Nokia Mysteriously Hints At Upcoming Windows Phone Announcement

It is almost a thing now to release mysterious teasers and hints before a company launches a new product. Nokia is following the tradition, having released a vague Windows Phone video today which points towards an upcoming announcement.

The video has been posted on the YouTube account of Nokia US. It probably means that the upcoming announcement will not be for an international audience. In the video, you can hear the sound of a revving car engine for a few seconds while this appears on the screen: ‘Have you heard what’s coming?’ Then another piece of text appears: ‘See and hear what you’ve been missing.’

Finally, the video concludes by displaying Nokia and Windows Phone logos. Normally, a teaser would be a teaser but in recent years, pre-launch videos and invitations from tech companies have been used by an extensive array of analysts to predict what is coming up. The art includes reading into the minor details and finer hints, whether or not there are any.

In the case of this video from Nokia, the ‘missing’ in the text hints at the Treasure Tag Bluetooth accessory that the company has been readying for its Lumia devices. The accessory brings together the power of Bluetooth and NFC so that you can add NFC tags to everyday items such as keys, wallets and then track them using your Lumia handset.

Moreover, Nokia may also unveil the much-touted Lumia Icon at the occasion to which this video points. Icon is a 5-inch Lumia handset packing 2.2GHz quad-core processor and a 20-megapixel camera. Nokia is due to launch the handset by making it available with Verizon, although the company and the carrier have refused to acknowledge that it exists.

Whatever the ‘big’ announcement turns out to be, we will keep you posted. So stay tuned for more updates.
