During the E3 game conference, Nintendo has unveiled the final version of the Wii U controller, which is known as Wii U Gamepad. The company has upgraded some notable revisions from the prototype shown in last year’s at E3. The significant updates include 6.2-inch touch-sensitive screen, Near Field Communication (NFC), motion and gyroscope sensors, and fully independent infrared TV remote.
The thumb slider has been replaced by analog thumb stick, which now support L3 and R3 internal pressure. Instead of the 3DS-like circle pads, the new gamepad has two stick-type devices. The circle pads are more suitable for portable devices where players need a low profile for the hardware.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said, “Some people will wonder if Wii U is a simple evolution of Wii or something entirely different,” Iwata said. “I think maybe the correct answer is both.”
Iwata also has introduced a social network called “Miiverse“. It is the Wii U’s online social network and will allow players to make Mii avatars. He explained, when the screen will show the line up of games and applications then TV screen will show a list of games and the Mii avatars. Through text messages, communication between Miis can occur but players are also able to write with their hands.
