When Chad Hurley and Steve Chen created YouTube, they had no idea that the video site is going to become a huge sensation on the web and an integral part of the internet experience itself. The duo sold the service to Google for a whopping $1.65 billion. One of the founders, Hurley, has now hinted that he’s working on yet another video-related project.
At the SXSW event this year, Hurley was among the speakers and hinted that he is currently working on yet another video-based project. He was quick to state that the project he is readying is not going to be a YouTube competitor in any way.
Rather, he said, the project is related to video-based collaboration which would provide the ‘flexibility for people to work together and create content.’ However, Hurley stopped short of revealing a lot of details about this new project he’s working on.
Whatever it turns out to be, one thing we can be certain about is that the tech circles will be talking about it as soon as it is released, thanks to the wide recognition that Hurley and Chen have earned by creating YouTube. During his talk at SXSW, Hurley further hinted that, “I wish [South by Southwest] was a month later because I could unveil the new product.” In other words, we can expect Hurley’s new creation to become public within a month or so.
