Motorola, under the guidance of Google, has launched its much-touted and much-anticipated smartphone, Moto X. Now, the company has revealed that it is also readying a price-friendly version of the Moto X smartphone.
When leaks first started suggesting that Motorola was readying a handset of its own, many didn’t believe the rumors. However, over time, the number of Moto X-related rumors started to increase and in time, Google and Motorola finally conceded that they were indeed working on such a smartphone.
Now Moto X has been released and its price is $199 along with signing a two-year contract. This is somewhat steep for many users since Moto X isn’t exactly a top-end smartphone and with the kind of specs it packs, that price tag doesn’t seem justified.
However, Motorola’s CEO, Dennis Woodside, has now placated these concerns by stating that the company is well cognizant of the fact that many may not be able to afford the standard Moto X cost. And so, Motorola is working on a cheaper model of Moto X as well, meant for prepaid markets.
According to Woodside, “We want everyone to have access to affordable smartphones.” He further stated, “Moto X is the brand that we are most focused on… and there is more to come. You will see additional products within months.”

With Google’s muscle behind them, why did they bother releasing a phone with hardware that doesn’t match the price?
Then they’ll make a cheaper version – probably with still worse hardware so its specs still won’t match the price.
I’ve never seen anyone so openly admit that their product is bad value for the money… really strange shit…
