Microsoft Working On Own-branded Windows 8 Smartphone

In October, some smartphone manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung and HTC will launch Windows 8 devices. Recently, a rumor has been raised up about Microsoft that the software giant is working on its own-branded Windows 8 smartphone. That means, the company will come in the smartphone device market along with its own software to compete with existing manufacturers.

BGR first reported through an unnamed source about Microsoft’s Surface smartphone launch. BGR’s source has not provided any details of Microsoft Surface phone. The source only said that the Surface phone is in the late stages of development and will release in the coming months.

On the other hand, China Times reported on Monday that Microsoft is currently planning to release a Surface branded smartphone and the phone will be available in the first half of 2013.

Though, it is not clear that when Microsoft will release its own-branded Windows 8 phone, but BGR’s second source said that Microsoft will not release Surface phone when its OEM partners will release Windows Phone 8 device in the coming months.
