iPhone-Dev team just released PwnageTool 4.1.3 that can be used to unlock iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1.This version of PwnageTool lets you create a custom firmware for iOS 4.2.1 and iOS 4.1 with 06.15.00 baseband taken from iPad 3.2.2 firmware. iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users who want to unlock their device on baseband 05.14.02 or higher need to first update their baseband to 06.15.00 using PwnageTool 4.1.3.

Sherif Hashim, the iPhone hacker has discovered a crash in the AT+XAPP command on iPad 3.2.2 which has a baseband 06.15.00. This baseband version is higher than the current unlockable baseband 05.14.02 of iPhone 3GS & 3G. So you upgrade your baseband first to 06.15.00 (which is possible) and then unlock it on this higher baseband.
