There have been rumors that Samsung is readying a special version of its Galaxy S5 handset. This special version will be called Galaxy S5 Prime and it will pack an upgraded set of specs compared to the normal Galaxy S5.
The latest leak about Galaxy S5 Prime comes from Price.com.hk, a Hong Kong based retailer. The retailer is offering a Galaxy S5 version, model numbered SM-G906S, which packs a better set of specs. The model number itself is revealing because the model number of the actual Galaxy S5 is SM-G900.
According to the site, the new version of Galaxy S5 handset packs a 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. It further includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip together with 3GB of RAM and Android KitKat. The handset also offers a 16-megapixel rear camera as well as a 2-megapixel front camera. It also packs support for LTE as well as the option for microSD.
It is interesting to note that Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed the Galaxy S5 Prime handset. However, the rumors say that the company is due to launch the special version of Galaxy S5 in June this year. Given the aforementioned specs of Galaxy S5 Prime, it makes sense that Samsung aims to pit this handset against LG G3 in the coming days. We are also expecting a higher price tag for the Prime device, compared to the regular Galaxy S5.
