The result shocked me as well. iClarified performed the test and surprisingly result shows iPad 1 boots up fast and iPad 2 took 3 second more, but iPad 3 was last to boot-up and took almost 6 second more then iPad 1. Here we have the video and results below.
What Test Measured?
In the test, video is synced on the down click of the power button. The logos are supposed to appear at different times. So here they measured time when the “slide to unlock” screen come.
So here iClarified consider time from clicking power button to get the “slide to unlock” screen on all 3 iPad.
iPad 1 vs. iPad 2 vs. iPad 3: Result
iPad 1 Boots in 25.00 sce
iPad 2 Boots in 28.00 sec
iPad 3 Boots in 31.63 sec
What the result mean?
Boot time getting slower with new generation. But it does not mean that iPad 1 is any how faster, it just it boots faster. Apple has added new hardware features with each new model so probably more new function and process starts with each boot-up, which increase the boot time.
Disclaimer:
From our point we understand boot time also depends on what kind of application loading up first, and iClarified does not reveal anything about configuration and status of those iPad. Even in general a iPad of any generation of size 64GB full with music and videos will take more time to boot then a brand new unused 64GB model of that generation. Also it does not teel if it was a 3G/4G model or just Wifi, as booting up with 3G/4G carrier could affect time too. We also hope they did not test it on Jailbroken iPad, as Jailbrioken device are known to boot slower then any regular device.
Here is the video showing the device side by side:
