After the shutdown of its servers in Ukraine, following several DDoS attacks, around two weeks ago, the popular torrent service Demonoid’s administrators had put the three main domain names of the service up for sale. Seems, the administrators won’t be able to wrap it up.
The three domains – demonoid.me, demonoid.com and demonoid.ph – were put on sale by the administrators last week in Sedo website marketplace. But, two of the three domains – demonoid.com and demonoid.ph – have been delisted soon after due to legal issues.
The two listings now say, “Due to possible legal issues associated with this domain, Sedo is not able to offer services for the domain. Please consider selecting an alternative domain.”
At first it may seem that the delisting was due to the ongoing investigation against the Demonoid administrators. But, Sedo told Torrentfreak that the marketplace didn’t received any pressure or formal order from law enforcing agencies to stop the domain name auctions. However, the marketplace didn’t say what the real causes of the delisting are and why the third domain is still up for sale.
