Sony has launched their subscription based music service for Android and their own Sony Tablet S Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet and the new service charges you a monthly fee to access some 10 million music tracks using your Android device or any other Sony Music Unlimited approved devices. A tablet version of PlayStation Store has also been released, allowing officially certified games to be purchased and downloaded to the device, the music service was offered on its new tablets slightly after they were launched because more time was required for development……………..

Google’s 2011 third quarter earnings results are in and the company is reporting $9.72 billion in revenue, which is a 33 percent increase from the same quarter last year. GAAP net income came in at $2.73 billion, up from $2.17 billion a year ago and Google-owned sites continued to generate the largest chunk of revenue with $6.74 billion, followed by Google’s partner sites revenues, such as through the AdSense program of $2.6 billion. During the company’s earnings call, CEO Larry Page confirmed that there’s now 190 million Android phones activated around the world and 200 million users of the Chrome web browser…………………

Microsoft And Quanta Computer Sign Patent Agreement

Microsoft has signed a patent deal with Quanta Computer, the latest in an ongoing effort to convince hardware makers that they need to license technology from the software giant if they intend to use Google’s Android and Chrome operating systems for their devices and the companies didn’t disclose terms of the deal, except to say that Microsoft will receive royalties from Quanta under the agreement. The Quanta name may not ring many bells, but they’re the one of the largest contract PC manufacturers in the world and if Microsoft’s deal allowed them to collect royalties on any Android or Chrome-powered product sold under the Quanta name. The licensing deals Microsoft has inked in the past don’t shine any light on the royalty structure and Google historically hasn’t been a fan of Microsoft’s practices………………
