[RIP] Dennis Ritchie Creator of C Programming Language Has Passed Away

Dennis Ritchie, best known as the creator of the C programming language and co-creator of the UNIX operating system passed away on the weekend of October 8th, battling an unspecified illness at the age of 70 and the news of his death came from past collaborator, Rob Pike in a message on Google+ which read: "I trust there are people here who will appreciate the reach of his contributions and mourn his passing appropriately. He was a quiet and mostly private man, but he was also my friend, colleague, and collaborator, and the world has lost a truly great mind." In 1999, Mr Ritchie's influence and accomplishments won official notice when he was awarded the US National Medal of Technology...................

Linux Foundation Announces LinuxCon Program

Linux Foundation announced the final program for LinuxCon North America and this events include the 20th anniversary of Linux gala celebration, a discussion between Linus Torvalds and Greg Kroah-Hartman. The convention will also feature a 20 Years of Linux panel that will include Linux and open source luminaries Jon maddog Hall, Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) veteran and advocate and Eben Moglen, the Software Freedom Law Center founder, also confirmed for the final program is a keynote from Dr. Irving Wladawsky-Berger, was largely responsible for IBM’s early commitment to Linux............
