Samsung May Release Windows RT Tablet Later This October

Ever since Microsoft unveiled its very own Surface tablets, things have been rather silent at the end of other potential vendors of Windows tablets. Whereas different hardware vendors such as Dell, HP, Samsung and others had hoped that they would finally be able to break into the tablet market with Windows tablets, the move from Microsoft kind of cooled their hopes significantly.

Now, certain inside sources who prefer not to be named have revealed that Samsung has plans of launching its own Windows RT tablet by October this year. This is the first Windows tablet that will be running on ARM technology. ARM technology has steadily gained immense momentum in the tablet market, particularly because Apple has chose to use ARM technology in its iPad tablets.

ARM tablets have proved to perform much better and provide far better battery life and that may be the chief reason why Samsung is first planning to come out with an ARM-based Windows RT tablet. The tablet is expected to be out by October this year, say the sources.

The RT tablet from Samsung will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. With Microsoft pushing a two-pronged strategy for Windows 8 tablets, with Windows RT tablets having a critically important place in the whole equation, things seem promising for the likes of Nvidia, Qualcomm and other non-Intel chip vendors since they can now sell their chips to Windows RT vendors.
