For the first time Nikon is going to use Android operating system for its camera models. Because of a filing with the Indonesian Communication Agency it has been revealed that a new Nikon camera is going to be released having the Android OS. That model is expected to have a 25-250mm lens, a 3.5” OLED display at the back, built-in GPS and WiFi.
The camera is said to be Nikon Coolpix S800. It can be the successor of P7100; possibly the P7200. It has been speculated that Nikon is going to use the Android 2.3 Gingerbread version. More interestingly, it is rumored that the camera will support all Google Play apps. It may not sound like a camera feature but to find out how cool the feature is, you have to wait till its release date. The Coolpix S800 is expected to be announced on the 22nd of August.
