Google Is Readying A Significant YouTube App For Android

Google is in the process of ramping up the official YouTube app for Android, including a whole lot of new features. One of the key features in the updated app will be the use of a card-based interface, essentially intended to let people watch a given video while at the same time, browsing through other videos.

YouTube app update

The use of rectangular cards have become somewhat of a trademark Google signature. In the case of the YouTube app, they may prove to be particularly useful. Google claims that the updated app is meant for browsing content across YouTube without any hiccups.

So when you are viewing a given video on the updated YouTube app, you are able to drag it down to a corner of the screen where the video continues playing. And meanwhile, you can go back to the normal YouTube interface and browse and search for other content.

Moreover, the update will also bring the ability to search for playlists on YouTube. The feature hasn’t been available on the app so far and its arrival is a welcome addition. In streaming the videos, a new feature is that the next queued video will start playing automatically once the current video completes.

In all, it would appear that the key focus of Google in updating the YouTube app for Android has been on redesigning the app and making it more suited to the user’s browsing habits. Non-Android platform users need not to worry as they too will be getting the updated version of the app quite soon.
