4K Technology Based TVs Widely Unveiled By Reputed Companies At IFA 2012

3D technology based TVs were one of the widely discussed topics at IFA 2011 and CES 2011. But at this year’s IFA, many reputed companies like LG, Sony, Toshiba unveiled 4K TVs. LG, Sony, Toshiba all represented 84 inch 4K TVs. Panasonic also displayed 20 inch 4K TVs. The technology 4K has already got huge popularity.


4K TV

Current HDTVs have 1080 pixel (1,920 x 1,080) or a little less than 1080i or 720 pixel resolution. But, “4K” technology based TVs have nearly four times the resolution of a standard HDTV. In other word, the technology is called “4K” because it has approximately 4,000 pixels on the horizontal edge.

During IFA 2012, LG, Sony, and Toshiba all have unveiled 84 inch 4K TVs. Consumer’s can get LG’s 4K TV at $22,000. On the other side, Panasonic also unveiled 20 inch 4K TVs. The biggest attraction at IFA 2012 was Sony’s XBR-84X900 TV.  Sony unveiled its very first 4K TV, the XBR-84X900, on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012. In fact, this XBR-84X900 4K TV was and still now the company’s largest screen to date. This TV is an LED based LCD TV. The resolution of the 4K television is 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. The XBR-84X900 comes with a 10 driver stereo speaker system. Sony will start selling the XBR-84X900 4K TV in North America at its stores and other retailers by December. Sony will announce the price of this 4K TV next week.
