Coby To Introduce Series Of New Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets In January, 2012

Rumors say that Coby Electronics is determined to take the market by storm next year with the release of five new tablets powered by Google’s latest Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich. Not to keep the fans and the market on suspense, the new products are going to be announced in January, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Jodi Sally, vice president of marketing for Coby, made the announcement with unconcealed pride for being among the first companies to offer to the market a “premiere range of feature-packed Android 4.0-powered Internet tablets”.

The new tablets that Coby is going to introduce to the market in a month are 7-inch MID7042, 8-inch MID8042, 9-inch MID9042, 9.7-inch MID9742, and 10-inch MID1042. Among the technical features the company mentioned 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, capacitive multi-touch screens, up to 1GB of RAM, expandable memory up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, and HDMI 1080p output. At the moment, there is no information regarding the price tags. Coby’s new move is different from the previous attempt to enter the tablet market with a 7-inch tablet, Kyros MID7015, powered by Android 2.1, an OS version that wasn’t designed for a tablet.
